Fortress have today commenced the testing of a further roof light for Carillion Construction to establish the performance of the glazed unit once broken.
Concerns have been raised by Carillion that no specific test has been carried out to establish if the external pane of glass is broken on a roof light, that the inner pane will have sufficient strength to support the weight of the broken glass.
Fortress has in partnership with “Float Glass Industries” developed the testing Method with the approval of Carillion and is currently testing the unit at their manufacturing plant in Durham.
The test will run over 7 days with the results available on Tuesday 6th April.
“ A further step forward in our relationship with Carillion Construction” noted Ian Hutchinson , Fortress’s Partner in charge of operations .
